10 List of Most Famous Lost City

A city will be lost when the city is abandoned by its inhabitants, as a result it left a lot of disappeared  civilizations. This can happen in many ways; among them are war, natural disasters, etc. But along with the evolved of civilization, the legend of the lost city began to come back into the surface. Many experts who later found the ruins; the ruins of the former city. As a result, many legends of the lost city is brought into the surface.

Apart from the myth and reality, here I'll outline 10 the most famous lost cities and still exist in this world eventhough there are many cities actually lost but in my opinion this missing list of 10 cities that I lay out are the most famous and got a lot of public attention.

10. Atlantis

Plato described Atlantis as an advanced civilization and have a formidable sea power. Atlantis is said to had conquered most of Europe before sank into the sea. According to an old myth, the city was sinking because of the wrath of the gods on the behavior of the people but according to scientific research, this city was drowned possibly due to geological phenomena.


9. The City of Caesars

Also known as the City of Wandering and the City of Patagonia, The City of Caesars is believed to be a myth town situated at the southern tip of South America. This city has never been found, and at present is considered a legend.


8. Troy

Troy is a legendary city located in northwest Anatolia, now modern Turkey. Troy has long been regarded by many people as a day to day myth, which then led to an excavation in the 1870s. And from the excavation, many ruins from collapsed buildings are seen.


7. The Lost City of Z

The lost city of Z are a lost civilization that lies deep in the Brazilian jungle (Amazon forest). This lost city said to be an advanced civilization with sophisticated network of bridges, roads, and temples. It can be proved by the relics found in many advanced tools in the amazon jungle.

Petra is considered the most beautiful city of all cities on this list, Petra is located in Jordan. The most prominent characteristic was the beautiful architecture made of stone, carved from the rock surrounding mountains of which the exploration had been started since the 18th century until now. The beauty of petra stone architecture can be enjoyed by you when you have a vacation in Jordan.

This lost city is the most sought after, because the city was known as a city of gold. It is estimated that there are a lot of gold in this city. El Dorado, a mythical empire is said to be founded in the forests of South America. The city is said to be led by a strong king and with the infinite riches of gold.


4. Memphis

Founded in 3100 BC, Memphis is the capital of the ancient Egypt, and became the administrative center of civilization for hundreds of years before being abandoned by its inhabitants along with the rise of Thebes and Alexandria. In the former area of the city, a lot of ruins of the ancient Egyptian buildings are found.

Area surrounding Angkor in Cambodia is known as one of the industrial centers in Asia, even in the world and one of the most famous legacy is the temple of Angkor Wat which is generally regarded as a religious monument.

Roman city of Pompeii was destroyed in AD 79 after the nearby Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the entire community under 60 feet of ash and rock. The city is estimated to have about 20,000 inhabitants at the time, and it is regarded as one of the main holiday destination for the upscale community of Rome.

The city is located near the Urubamba Valley in Peru, the city was once found and plundered by the conquistadors, Machu Pichu kept a lot of relics of ancient ruins which are often referred to as the temple machu Pichu. Very beautiful architecture of the temple machu Pichu proves how high the civilization machu Pichu during its heyday.
