Norway's Lofoten Archipelago are located in the northern part of the Arctic Circle.
Lofoten is known in Norway due to its extraordinary natural beauty but apparently not yet a worldwide reputation. Located at 68-69 degrees latitude of the Arctic Circle and is affected by Arctic temperature anomaly. Lofoten is absolutely qualified already to become one of the places with outstanding beautiful natural scenery on this planet. Not to mention the atmosphere that provide tranquility for its visitors.
Because of its beauty, Lofoten is called "An Arctic Paradise".

We can find many deep water with a group of the largest coral reefs in the world.
There are millions of sea birds with many species such as albatross, cormorant and Puffin. There is also a species of beaver and deer.

The residents in the vicinity gave the name to one of the islands known as VestvÃ¥gøya and other islands, Flakstadøya, which means 'the foot of wolf' because the island's shape is like a wolf footprints. Now, the whole archipelago is known as the Lofoten and including regional districts in Nordland, Norway.

Due to the unique climate, Lofoten also became the center of the largest cod fishery for more than a thousand years ago.
Cod fish migrating south from the Barents Sea gathered in Lofoten to spawn and the fishing industry has exploit those conditions. For centuries, Norway is a place where a large amount of cod exported to most of Northern Europe.

Even the border of the islands consists of natural walls with a height of about 1,100 meters. Mountains and cliffs on the north Vestfjord protect the area. But what really created the anomaly of the Arctic circle? The answer is the Gulf Streams together with current Norway and the North Atlantic. Seeing the river that flows gently is enough to make us wonder if we were really inside the Arctic Circle.

Lofoten is also famous for its beautiful laying sandy beach. But there is a danger ready to haunt. Malstrøm tide is known as a tidal whirlpool in the Lofoten west. But generally the beach in Lofoten is safe.

Lofoten Islands are the northernmost place in the world where the average temperature is above zero throughout the year. In January the average temperature is around -1.5 C and in summer season the average temperature is around 13 C for 24 hours throughout the day. The hottest temperature ever recorded was 30.4 C.

There are 3 local airports which each only serves more than 100 people every day. Quite surprising for an island with an extraordinary beauty.
But UNESCO has long crowned Lofoten as a World Heritage Site.
